Santiago Sartorius is a visual artist and creativity motivator. His journey has taken him to different places, outer and inner, in the quest of the shaman, of who we are, truly.

E.C.T. etc… or my Shocking Journey is a 20 minute keynote presentation about
the story of my mental life, and the various methods I’ve used to shock myself out
of bad mental states of disassociation and derealisation, where I felt disconnected
from myself and the world around me. The journey took me from downright dodgy
coping strategies to the present unusual, though manageable, strategies for
‘keeping it real’. The talk will be followed by an optional discussion of the issues
raised.

“I loved the vulnerability of Yvo Luna; the account of her life was shocking and
fascinating and I’m sure there is a book there just waiting to be written…
outstanding and important.”
Rosie Pearson for Latest 7 Fringe Review 2011

Yvo Luna M.A. is a writer, performer and visual artist who has moved into using
computerised presentations as a way of demonstrating her experiences and views
related to social mores and mental health. Uncompromisingly honest, and often
hilariously funny, Yvo has been involved in award-nominated work, and has made
a presentation and film for international conferences on the link between
addiction, nutrition, and mental health.

She has been around the globe several times (though admittedly this was only because she couldn’t find theentrance). see my flickr photographs at http://www.flickr.com/photos/yvoluna

This practical workshop offers the opportunity to improve a personal connection. Is there someone who is making your life difficult? Someone you just don’t seem to be able to see eye to eye with? Someone who causes you grief? Most people have at least one person with whom they’d like to make a better connection, whether that person is a parent, a child, a spouse, a boss, or a colleague. It’s easy (and natural) to blame the other person, but it’s surprising the degree to which a relationship can be transformed from your side alone. In this session we’ll use EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to demonstrate how you clear your side of a troubling relationship and produce a permanently enhanced connection with the person of your choice.

Text was premiered at Critical Incident 2010 at an early stage of development, Exploring the world of mobile connection and relationships, the play was then commission to play at the New Diorama Theatre in London. Here Rational Madness tries something new in the gallery space, in promenade theatre style. Time for discussion afterwards.

Visit the |web site for Text here.

Visit the web page for Rational Madness Theatre Company.

Text stars two actors from the acclaimed theatre company MokitaGrit – Jane Lesley and Ben Murray-Watson. Jane and Ben bring perfect mood to the piece, combining an ability to be painfully funny, with naturalistic sharpness. The play will really get you thinking about how we can lose authentic intimacy even when we are, seemingly, more connected. The play will be of fierce interest to users of mobile phones, addictive texters, and anyone interested in the new dynamics of relationships.

Led by Helen Thatcher, Biodanza teacher. the core of Biodanza is care and affection for ourselves, others and our world, from this perspective we say Biodanza is love-centric! Some exercises are vital dances which allow expression and energy, others are calm and quiet moments when we can reach a deep sense of rest and peace. At times we dance individually, sometimes with a partner, sometimes as a group. In this way we gain a deeper sense of connection to ourself and a deeper experience of connection to community.

We’ve never tried this before. Can we do a TED in 60 minutes? Will also be broadcasting live on Ustream TV. Current topics include: The Rough Guide to Healthy Tweeting, and How to Dance with Spiders (an exploration of the beast of social media and mobile living) . JUST ADDED: A brief summary of her talk by Yvonne Luna on “.C.T. etc… or my Shocking Journey”

Mike Fitsimons and Sue Bradley, along with FringeReview editor Paul Levy will invite you to take a stand…

Is suffering necessary to art?

Do we produce better art when we have fewer resources? Are philanthropy and patronage once again realities for artists to fund their work, as they once were?

Or do we stick with public funding, arts councils and good governance of the nation’s resources to support art?

Is it time for what Mike and Sue call the arrogant artists – the Crarrogants, and the arrogant business folk – Barrogants – to finally fight it out, or to meet halfway?

Is it either-or, or can it be both?

Sparks will fly…

Sue Bradley

Sue has an MA (Ed.) specialising in Multiple Intelligences. She is a regional director of Creative Partnerships, an international performer, teacher and musician with a punk attitude. In her early career Sue was a performer working with bands and theatre companies including Pookiesnackenburger and neo-circus Ra Ra Zoo. Later she became a teacher of Performing Arts. She is now regional director for Creative Partnerships, England’s flagship creative learning programme.

For the last 6 years Sue has been working with creative practitioners to re-engage young people with education. Faced with a wall of bureaucracy and Orwellian double speak, grudging acceptance and conflicting behaviours, she came to realise that creative souls need help. They need help to deal with the world of measures, money and business, while at the same time those in the traditional work environment need help to understand the creative mind set. In short we all need to get along, and if we do the results can be stunning.

She is passionate about improving life chances for young people, making the best of collaborations between the creative and business sectors and helping artistic and creative people to make a living .

Sue’s strengths are in generating ideas, imagining possibilities, initiating connections and collaborations. She stretches boundaries and definitions; she is an inventor and originator but always with a sound understanding of the philosophical basis of the work. In particular she has a well informed understanding of trends in pedagogy and cultural practice and an active interest in learning styles, creative learning and cultural interventions.

Mike Fitzsimons

Mike has a BA in Economics and an MBA. He is a management consultant and also a professional musician. After graduating in 1972 he joined the government statistical agency OPCS, where he applied his computer programming skills to ‘number crunching’ and statistical analysis. In 1985 he joined the BBC, as Head of IT, working in Broadcasting Research, supporting programme makers to understand audience reaction and audience demographics. Leaving the BBC in 1995 he joined OPRA, the new UK pensions regulator, as Head of IT. He completed an MBA in 1999.

From 1971 to date Mike has played in many bands, including The Pirhanas, The Papers and more recently The Blue Hearts a band of which Sue is also a member. He has a song publishing deal in Nashville, USA.

In 2005 he retired from his IT career and became an independent consultant. He has worked with many clients including Creative Partnerships. He specialises in the development of performance frameworks that aimed to demonstrate the value of many types of work programmes. The issues concerning collaboration and communication that have been fashioned within the terms ‘Crarrogance and Barrogance’ began to emerge while working with Creative Partnerships. This has lead to a research project in collaboration with the University of Portsmouth[ftn1].

Mike has a partner, two children and lives in Brighton.

Crarrogance and Barrogance

By observing how creative and business people find it hard to get along with each other, Sue Bradley and Mike Fitzsimons have been developing the behavioural concepts of Crarrogance (the perceived arrogance of the creative person) and Barrogance (business arrogance). Together with Richard Sant, from the University Of Portsmouth they are leading research that has the potential to build a more fulfilling and successful future for both the business and creative worlds and the individuals within them.
